System Works Good So Far
After doing extensive research online, reading positive reviews, and finding the unit priced competitively compared to local HVAC companies, I decided to purchase this 18K BTU unit for my 850-square-foot, fully insulated shop with 14-foot ceilings. On top of that, I received an additional $110 discount at checkout, which was a pleasant surprise. Shipping was fast, but I was disappointed with how the units were packaged. It is not nicely packaged up like is shown on their website into a single protected box containing both the indoor and outdoor units. The indoor unit arrived on one day, the outdoor unit the next, and the line set cover came separately at a later time. All three boxes had clearly been opened and re-taped, which made me question whether all parts would be included or if the system would even work. Fortunately, after inspecting everything, I found that all the parts were there, in new and clean condition. I decided to install the unit myself, but I hired a local HVAC technician to cut the line sets to the proper length, pull a vacuum, and charge the system. Unfortunately, the technician—a 26-year HVAC veteran—was unable to reflare the line sets. The diameters didn’t fit either of his two flaring tools, and we tried several methods of wrapping the pipe to get a tighter grip on the piping without success. In the end, I had to purchase two new line sets from the technician, which he was able to flare without any issues. This extra work ended up costing me around $300, doubling the cost I originally expected to pay the technician. I reached out to Tosot’s support team, who directed me to the product’s tech section, where I discovered that the line sets are metric, not US-standard. While this information was buried in a technical document on their website, I think Tosot should make this clearer in their main product page or installation instructions. It would have been helpful to know upfront, especially for anyone planning to cut the provided line sets. If you do decide to do so, I recommend either getting a metric flaring tool or ensuring the technician has access to one. I’ve seen others on forums figure out makeshift solutions to this issue, but I believe Tosot should make this distinction more obvious. On a positive note, Tosot’s tech support was excellent, responding to my emails in less than 24 hours, which I really appreciated. Now that the system is up and running, it seems to be operating fine. The app installed easily and works as expected. It's difficult to judge its full heating and cooling capacity at this point, as we’re in-between seasons, but it’s maintaining a comfortable 61°F in the shop, even with nighttime temperatures dipping into the mid 30s. I’m looking forward to seeing how it performs during the summer when temperatures climb above 100°F. The indoor unit has strong airflow and is quite quiet, as is the outdoor unit. Overall, I’m hopeful this will be a great purchase. Despite the issues with packaging and the line set, I’m still giving this product 5 stars because of the fast shipping, great pricing (with the discount), responsive customer service, operation to-date, and the solid build quality of the system.
So Far….So Good.
I watched many reviews and how-to videos before settling on the Tosot-Direct mini-split. The positive reviews and overall specifications led me to settle on the 18K BTU unit. After placing my order I was surprised how quickly it shipped and arrived. The heavy cardboard like crate the heat pump shipped in is great! Everything arrived in perfect condition. My installation went well but it would have been nice to have a template to aide in making sure the position of the hole for the refrigerant lines was correct. I did have to cut the lines going to the outdoor unit since they were a little too long and I didn’t feel comfortable trying to coil the excess without kinking them. I had already planned out and made a wall mount bracket out of c-channel and ran the electrical connection to the location. I did have a slight problem during the vacuum step and releasing the refrigerant. With the help of Mason in technical support and a friend which I found the issue was due to a bad 5/16 to 1/4 line adapter. It didn’t seem to be depressing the valve core enough? After using a better quality line adapter and removing the valve core for the vacuum step everything went smooth afterwards and the unit started right up with no problems. In terms of control, Its been hot and I have noticed when you leave it in auto mode there is a fair amount of drift between the set point until when the cooling kicks in but it appears to be normal. Once the cooling does kicks on, it really puts out cool air and does a good job bringing down the temperature. Putting it in cool mode lets starts cooling right away. I’m very impressed with the quality and performance of the mini split so far.
Works good so far
Shipping took a while but I knew that upfront.. in hindsight I wish I went for slightly more efficient version that gree makes but overall it's great! The main trouble I had was I managed to kink the line it wasn't terrible but I was gonna cut the line anyways to flare it, so I flipped the line set and has to redo first step, which took a while, and then I am not sure what the issue was but the line set might have been metric it didn't go into my flaring tool properly, (would slip out) I managed to work around it by wrapping some aluminum strips from soda can and practicing on my cut offs. Everything else went seamless I was surprised when I turned on the breaker everything just worked lol..

More Efficient, Stable Cooling
What and Why Inverter?
Advanced inverter technology will adjust the running speed of the compressor to achieve the set temperature without wasteful cycling. TOSOT inverter technology has less power loss, lower noise, and saves more energy. The unit also won’t wake you up at night by constantly turning the compressor on and off.
Reduces Energy Use by 50% to Save Money
AHRI Certified
The higher the SEER2, the better the energy performance. Rated at 20 SEER2, the Muse series split AC is estimated to lower energy costs up to 50% per year, compared to standard 10 SEER units. This model is perfect for anyone looking for an all-season AC/heater combo for their home or business.
